Who We Are
Who We Are Together
We are a community of Episcopal Christians who gather weekly for worship (9:30 am on Sundays!), centered around the Holy Eucharist (Communion) in order to be strengthened for service to the world in which we live.
Membership begins with baptism and carries with it responsibilities according to people’s gifts and abilities, and the privileges of life in God. All the members of this church are lay ministers, living out their baptismal vows in their every-day lives at home, school, and at work.
Who We Are in Maine
St. Thomas’ was founded in 1868 and has been a steady presence in this area ever since. We are one of 57 churches in the Episcopal Diocese of Maine, served by our bishop, The Rt. Rev. Thomas J. Brown.
Worship – The Heart of it All:
- Our life together is formed by common worship and by our service to others.
- All who desire a closer relationship with the Lord Jesus are welcome at our altar, knowing thereby we are strengthened for service to the outside world.
- We offer discernment and encouragement to each person in their life and work. Whoever you are and wherever you are on your journey, you are welcome to come meet God with us.
